I got the "Power Yoga for Baseball" DVD last week and managed to try some of it at our practice on Sunday. I've been doing it everyday and I think its brilliant. Hopefully I'll be able to pass on what I learn effectively. It would be brilliant if you could visit us here in the UK. . . if you're ever on holiday in the UK
I'm sure we would all love to train with you. I added a small article on our website about Yoga

“Gwen Lawrence has been a personal friend of mine for over ten years. She has developed a unique profession that combines the best from the world of Yoga and Massage Therapy. She combines conventional stretching strength and balance training with the teachings of mental discipline and
breathe awareness. All of which are so vital in the world of professional athletics."

“Gwen possesses a certain knack handling the players as Coach Tom Coughlin has concurred.”

Frank Gifford

“She conducted the class with tremendous professionalism and made it challenging to the
athletes. She related very well to our players and commanded their respect. I believe that Gwen is
an outstanding Yoga instructor who provided a valuable experience for those athletes who
consistently participated in her class.”

also helping keeping them injury free.”

various aches and pains and sports injuries over the years.”

Joy and Regis Philbin

“When I first started the program, I was skeptical that yoga could actually help me out. However, almost
instantly I was impressed. She immediately put me into a mental state that I use daily on the field to
focus my energy and put me into the frame of mind to compete. She taught me how to concentrate even
and really focus on the task at hand, channeling all my energies into productive action.”

Christopher Brown, Catcher, Pace University Setters Baseball

“I have worked with Gwen for only a couple of months and I have recognized tremendous gains in my flexibility, core strength and balance which are essential to staying healthy and explosive. I consider myself lucky to have learned as much from Gwen as I have in such a short time.”

Kevin Boothe, Offensive Guard, New York Football Giants

“Gwen has been a yoga instructor for the New York Giants all of the years I’ve been in the franchise.
Our players flock to her sessions to improve their flexibility, balance and breathing awareness.
She has had a tremendous impact on our injury prevention as well as our performance enhancement.”

“Gwen has an infectious positive energy and a very encouraging attitude towards those she works with. She would be the first person I would think to recommend for those interested in addressing any
physical ailments or just aspiring to improve their overall health.”

Bill Sheridan, Assistant Coach, New York Football Giants

“During that time, she proved herself to be bright, dedicated, and resourceful. It seems clear
that her work and relationships with her clients mean a great deal to her. I can see no reason
why Gwen wouldn’t be a valuable asset to any employer.”

David Letterman

"Being a professional athlete I have worked with many yoga teacher/ therapists. Some good,
some bad but never anyone like Gwen. Gwen conducts herself with the highest level of professionalism and is extremely confident in what she does. I would go to her with anything I have, knowing she
would instantly make me feel better. I know that if it weren't for Gwen I wouldn't have been
able to play without pain. She is truly a blessing. "

Below is an email that I wanted to share with all of you.
It is from a woman who I have been working with from Thailand.

Dear Yoga Students,

I found Gwen last year while I was seeking some advice regarding an injury I had sustained during a yoga lesson. Nobody seemed to be able to help me. It had gone on for months and I had severe pain at the top of my ham-string muscle, which was severely hindering my yoga practice.

In desperation I searched for advice on yoga injuries on the internet and found Gwen’s website and contact details. I decided to write to her in the hope that she might respond.

A couple of days later I received a reply from her. She explained what she thought my injury might be and kindly offered her support. She said it would help if she could meet me face-to-face so that she could look at my body alignment and try to ascertain the cause of my injury. This, however, was impossible. Gwen lives in New York and I live in Bangkok – about as far away from each other as you can get!

Gwen reassured me that this was not a problem and asked that I arrange for someone to take photographs of me in various yoga poses - which I duly did with my husband - and send them to her via e-mail.

About a month later I was delighted to receive a package from Gwen containing enlargements of all the pictures with her comments written on each and every one. I was amazed at what she could tell by simply looking at my photographs. My feet were not aligned, neither were my shoulders. My downward dog was twisted and my forward bend was weighted all wrong. The interesting thing was that I could clearly see all these misalignments myself after she had pointed them out. It became obvious to me that I had been straining my ham-string as a result – probably for years. No wonder it finally gave in!

Gwen then set about designing a complete set of corrective exercises for me to practice. She could see that my hips were tight, as was my lower back and advised that I use a fit-ball in order to stretch this area. I began to practice the specific poses. I also asked my yoga teacher in Bangkok to look at the photographs and help me by correcting my posture when I was going wrong. As I worked on these areas I realized that some of my poses were becoming much easier. Suddenly, they felt right. I was delighted.

Today I have no more trouble with my ham-string and my yoga continues to improve. Hopefully, after Gwen’s expert on-line tutoring, I will not have any problems in the future. Gwen is a sincere advocate of yoga and has given her time generously in order to help a struggling student at the other side of the world. I am extremely grateful to her for sharing her astounding knowledge and passion for yoga. Thanks Gwen.

A good friend of mine brought me to Gwen’s yoga class for the first time 3 years ago. As a pediatric physical therapist I was looking for a class that would improve my strength and flexibility as well as be a source of stress relief during my day. I got all that I have expected as I have seen definite changes in my muscle tone and my overall energy level has improved. What I got that I didn’t expect was how Gwen’s class make a dramatic change in my other life passion – horseback riding. I have been an equestrian since I was 5 years old, riding competitively most of my life. Last September I purchased a new horse, Cruz Control and we have been training together since. Gwen had been pointing out in class that I was very tight on one side and as a result looked “crooked”. At that same time during my lessons my instructor was noticing Cruz and I were having trouble whenever we were going right making it very difficult to complete a jumping course. As if I needed more convincing, Cruz’s chiropractor was very concerned that he was showing significant soreness on his right side. I now made getting “straight” a top priority. Gwen focused on my areas of tightness working on improving my alignment and gave me strategies and exercises to work on while not in class. I am thrilled to say the results are amazing. Cruz and I went from struggling through our jumper classed to winning our division in the past 2 shows we have been to. We are now in the top ten ranked team on our way to nationals. Most importantly, the chiropractor has reported to me that Cruz has not had any soreness recently and he is in the best shape he has ever seen him in. I cannot thank Gwen enough for helping us work out our kinks. It has made a tremendous difference in my life and I’m sure Cruz would agree!
